Served as Napa County Superintendent of Schools since 1997. She has taught in New York City schools and evaluated vocational education programs for CDE. In 2019 her office was awarded a grant from CDE to study dyslexia and improve reading instruction for struggling middle and high school students. In 2021 she was appointed co-chair of CDE’s Reading and Bi-literacy Task Force, and is currently working on the launch of a Literacy for All initiative for Napa County, collaborating with Chartwell School and the UCSF Dyslexia Center.
